Missions and charities

St Mary's aims to maintain links with about twelve missions and charities (or mission partners, as we like to call them) and support them over a period of years. We mainly focus on international causes (where the need is greatest and to express the church’s worldwide mission) or ones local to King’s Worthy and Winchester.

Our mission partners for 2018 include the following:

International:
  • Church Mission Society (Jason and Tracy Day in Thailand),
  • Logos Studio (Alison and Mozi Kotroci in Albania),
  • Children of clergy in Muhabura, Uganda,
  • Christian Solidarity Worldwide,
  • Embrace the Middle East (children in Syria)
  • Christian Aid;

National:
  • Children’s Society,
  • Royal British Legion;

Local:
  • Winchester Street Pastors,
  • Winchester Churches Night Shelter,
  • Winchester Churches Christmas Project,
  • City Centre Chaplaincy
  • Friends of the Family,
  • Olive Branch counselling service,
  • Winchester Basics Bank,
  • Minstead Training Trust (Furzey Gardens).

We try to pray regularly for our mission partners and, each month, we feature one of them in the weekly news sheet and on the board at the back of the church. We also aim to have speakers from about four of them per year, at church services.
