Funeral services can become an occasion of thanksgiving for the life of a loved one and bring comfort, hope, and help to the bereaved. God's love and power extends over all creation. Every life, including our own is precious to God. Christian's have always believed that there is hope in death as in life, and that there is new life in Christ over death.
For members of St Mary’s Church and for those who live within our parish, we provide support when a loved one dies. This includes helping to plan and then lead a funeral service either at St Mary’s Church or Basingstoke Crematorium. We seek to find a way for people to express faith and feelings and to say farewell.
If you would like to speak to a member of the clergy or one of our licensed lay ministers at St Mary’s about a funeral or thanksgiving service then please contact the Parish Office on 01962 881879.
The Churchyard at St Mary’s Church is officially closed for the burial of bodies, but open for the burial of cremated remains. Space is very limited, so the burial of cremated remains is strictly limited to those who have died in the parish or who are members of St Mary’s. We also conduct internments at the Lovedon Lane civic burial ground, working closed with the undertaker you appoint to assist you.
Our Sunday services includes an opportunity for us to pray for all those who have lost loved ones or are recently bereaved and our pastoral care team, in addition to clergy and lay ministers are available to visit as you journey through this sad time of loss.
